How is the training going?

Our students study diseases, medications, methods of home care for the elderly, specialized equipment, personal care, and state laws pertaining to this field. Each session comprises theory and tests. There is a textbook, various videos, equipment, supplementary printed materials, classroom practice, and visual aids available for learning.

Our school is taught by licensed nurses who have at least 2 years of experience in Home Care and are licensed to teach by the Ministry of Education.

Lesson 1: Introduction to Home Care (20 Hours)
Begin with a brief lecture on common nursing procedures, such as taking vital signs, administering medication, wound care, and patient hygiene. Short instructional videos demonstrating each procedure. Set up stations with necessary equipment for each procedure (e.g., blood pressure cuffs, bandages).
Lesson 2: Introduction to CPR (4 Hours)
Overview of CPR and its basic principles, including chest compressions and rescue breathing. Differences in performing CPR on adults, children, and infants. Practicing CPR techniques on manikins, focusing on the depth and rate of chest compressions. Introduction to the concept of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
Lesson 3: Introduction to Measuring Patient's Vitals (20 Hours)
Explanation of what vital signs are and why they are crucial indicators of a patient's health status. Demonstrate the correct techniques for measuring each vital sign, using appropriate tools (thermometer, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, etc.). Hands-On Practice measuring vital signs on manikins.
Lesson 4: Assisting with Patient Hygiene (25 Hours)
Different aspects of hygiene care, including bathing, oral care, hair care, nail care, and skin care. Techniques for hygiene assistance. Demonstrate proper techniques for assisting with various hygiene tasks. Methods for oral care, particularly for patients with special needs like dentures. Handwashing techniques and the use of gloves and other protective equipment. Preventing the spread of infection. Handle sensitive issues that may arise during hygiene care, such as incontinence, and how to approach them with compassion and professionalism.
Lesson 5: Home Management and Safety (10 Hours)
Basic Home Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Infection Control and Hygiene. Effective Household Management Skills
Lesson 6: Terminal Care (5 Hours)
Terminal illness means and the impact it has on patients and their families. Explore common diseases and conditions classified as terminal, such as advanced cancer, end-stage heart failure, and neurodegenerative diseases. Discuss pain management strategies, symptom control, and the holistic approach to patient care. Aspects of end-of-life care planning, such as advance directives, do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders, and hospice care options. Strategies for self-care and professional support for caregivers.

How much do the courses cost?
The total cost of the course Home Health Aide (HHA) is $535. Payment can be made in installments, discounts may be available. The total cost of the course Personal Care Aide (PCA) is $350. The total cost of the upgrade course from PCA to HHA is $400.
How long do the courses typically last?
The duration of the course depends on its type and the chosen schedule (morning, evening, weekend classes) but usually takes from 5 to 8 hours per day and can last up to 6 weeks.
What documents are required?
To start studying, you need to provide the following documents:

  2. Photo ID (Driver`s License or Green Card or Employment Authorization or Passport)
  3. High School Diploma or any Diploma
  4. Physical Exam
